SEEKING THE KINGDOM FIRST

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV)
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

What is the Kingdom of God, and how is it different from the Church?

The Kingdom of God is not the Church itself, but the Church serves as Heaven’s agency on earth—a representative body carrying out the will of the King. The Kingdom of God is a divine realm, a country ruled by God—the Ancient of Days—whose reign is eternal, as seen in the prophetic books of Daniel and Isaiah.

The Church was born on the Day of Pentecost, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and continues to function until the day of the Rapture. While the Church is the instrument, the Kingdom is the agenda.

Jesus’ heartbeat on earth was to restore the Kingdom that Adam lost in the Garden of Eden. Adam forfeited both the Kingdom and the dominion God had given him. But Jesus, the Second Adam, came to reclaim and restore that Kingdom and empower humanity once again with spiritual authority.

In Matthew 6:33, Jesus calls us to prioritize the Kingdom of God and His righteousness above all else. While the world anxiously pursues food, drink, and clothing, kingdom citizens are called to trust the King’s provision and pursue His will.

Let this be your daily posture: not just seeking blessings, but seeking the King and His Kingdom. When the Kingdom becomes your priority, everything else finds its rightful place.

Reflection:

What does it mean in your daily life to seek God’s Kingdom first?

Have you viewed the Church as a place, or as a Kingdom agency?

What worldly concerns are competing with your focus on the Kingdom?

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for revealing the truth of Your Kingdom. Teach me to seek Your Kingdom and righteousness above all things. Help me to live not just as a churchgoer, but as a true citizen of Heaven, walking in Your purpose and power. Restore my focus and align my desires with Yours. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
